Recreation FAQ’s

2011 Fall Season Recreational FAQ’s:

When do I sign up for Fall Recreational Soccer?
Sign ups are from March 1st to July 15th. Online Registration is now available! You can pay with Credit Card or check. You also have the option to send in your form and a check. Your child will also bring a registration form home in his/her school packet, or you can pick one up at any Carlsbad parks and rec center. Please see our home page for information about cost and late fees.

What if I live in South Carlsbad and want to play with my friends in North Carlsbad or vice versa?

If registering online, simply pick to register for North Carlsbad or South Carlsbad. If sending in your form and payment, make a note that you would like to play in either North or South. If no note is on your registration form, we will assign you to a team according to your zip code.

Why does your rec league only play U6, U8, U10 etc.? When signing up online, the registration said my child was a U9 player. Will she still be placed on a team?

The online registration tells the “true” age group of your child. Our rec league divisions consist of even year teams, which gives us more teams in each age bracket. For example, U9’s and U10’s all play at the U10 level. U7 and U8 all play at the U8 level, etc. See below for age group break down.

Can I coach a team?
Yes! Email info@carlsbadwavefc.com if you would like to coach a rec team. When signing up online, indicate that you would like to coach a rec team. If sending in your form and payment, indicate interest by marking the “COACH” box on the volunteer portion of your child’s registration form.

When do I find out what team my child is on?
Teams are drafted in early August. You will get a call from your coach the week of August 1st.

When does the season start?
Practices begin August 8th, on Carlsbad fields. Please contact the league if your player’s coach does not contact you by August 15. The first games are scheduled for Aug. 27, 2011. Game schedules do not come out until mid August.

 What days do they practice?

It depends on what your volunteer coach decides is the best day(s) for practice. Usually one to two days a week depending on the age of the team.

When and Where are games played?
All recreational soccer games are played on Saturdays.

Games are played on Carlsbad fields. Please see our FIELDS page for more info.

When does the season end?
Last day of recreational games will be November 5, 2011.

Do you have an ALL STAR PROGRAM?
YES! All Stars for ages U8 and up are chosen in November and play in a tournament in December.

What if my child is not assigned to a team because of late registration?
Refunds, in full, are given if your child is not assigned to a team.
Refunds, less a $25 fee, are given if Carlsbad Wave Soccer is notified, in writing, by August 31, 2011 of the withdrawal. All mail is sent 3rd class. 3rd class mail is not forwarded. Therefore, please notify us of all address changes via phone email at info@carlsbadwavefc.com .
