Spring League Format:

The Spring League is coached by Wave’s professional coaching staff.  The 60 minute session will consist of 30 minutes skills training, and 30 minutes of small-sided games.  Players will be placed on teams on the first day.  Please email any “friend requests” to director@carlsbadwavefc.com.  The teams will separated into boys teams and girls teams.  The focus of the league is more for building a positive environment and learning new skills, than it is for winning and losing.  Teams will be informal and players may move teams if the coaches feel it is better for the league as a whole.

Players will receive a CWFC Spring League game jersey, although this will likely not arrive until week 2 when we have an idea of what sizes we need for the whole league.

Weather Information:

In the event of possible adverse weather, we will update the club website with any field closures.  Please check the announcement box on the homepage of www.carlsbadwavefc.com before leaving for the field.  Every attempt will be made to run the session even if it is raining.  Sessions will only be cancelled if the field is deemed unsafe for play.

Bring a friend!

We still have remaining spots in our spring league program.  Please pass this email on to any interested parents.  They can register online at http://cysa-carlsbadwave.sportsaffinity.com/eventmanager/public/event.asp?calid=5340085&eventtype=CAMP

See you February 25th on the field!

BU9 Black team win 2012 Presidents Cup!

Coach Rigo’s BU9 Black team finished its season the way it began -Champs- by winning the 2012 San Diego President’s Cup Tournament on January 14th and 15th.
The tireless squad played 5 games over the weekend including 3 on the final day of play to take the 2 bracket, 8 team event. Stingy defense and aggressive goaltending
allowed for only 4 goals all tournament, plus earned a clean sheet in the 2-0 final. Steady scoring from throughout the lineup helped notch 12 goals, including some gems
from set plays. During the award presentation, the Wave received another team trophy for display while players were handed medals and t-shirts. After a short break, the
boys will return to the pitch as BU10 for their last 8v8 season. Go Wave!

6:00-7:30pm – all U7,8, & 9 boys.

Wave will be building new teams at these age-groups, and are seeking additional players to strengthen our existing teams. Our U8 and U9 teams will compete in the Presidio Soccer League, whilst we are launching brand new “developmental” teams at the U7 age-group.

The focus of the developmental teams will be teaching the fundamental skills, using modern coaching techniques, with coaches who are experts in player development at the younger ages.  The aim is to give the players a fun and upbeat soccer education, in a professional coaching environment, preparing the players for competitive soccer at the U8 age-group.  The fees for the U7 developmental teams will be lower than regular competitive fees, with all activities being local to Carlsbad.

Teams and Tournaments

Congratulations to the Wave GU12 Black team on winning the Notts Forest Memorial Day Cup! Tight defense and finding the back of the net at the right time was the key for the Wave, with the girls winning every game of the tournament by a score line of 1-0.  The Championship game was won 1-0 versus FC Murrieta, with a second half strike from Gabby O’Connell.  With one trophy already in the bag, Coach Jerry Straw and his team are currently preparing for the Saddleback Classic June 11-12.  Go Wave!!
