This past weekend (May 4,5,6), the Wave competitive coaching staff were put through their paces at Buena Vista Elementary School as the entire staff took the NSCAA Junior Level 6 Diploma.
The course was 21 hours in length, and included 5 classroom hours, focusing on coaching methodology and systems of play, and 16 field hours, working through various coaching practices, and completing with assessment of the Wave coaches. All coaches achieved the diploma, and were very tired at the end of Sunday!
We were honored to have two of the best instructors around to lead the course, Joe Supe (Irvine Valley College Head Coach, USSF, UEFA and Briazilian “A” License, and NSCAA Premier Diploma), and Wayne Harrison (Former Academy Director Blackpool FC, England, UEFA “A” License, NSCAA Premier Diploma).
Lead Instructor Joe Supe: ”Thanks for hosting the course! Everything was up to standard and very professionally done in term of facilities, coaches and the organization. It was a very good group and the environment very conducive to learning.. I would love to do a National course with Wave in the near future”…
Wave Director Of Coaching Steve Cowell: “Huge thanks to my coaching staff for their efforts this past weekend. I was really pleased with the work I saw on the field, and I feel that as a club, we are definitely much better prepared for the 2012-13 competitive season. As a coach, you should always have an attitude that you want to better yourself, and improve, and the best way to do this is to be around other coaches. The same way we expect our players to improve, we should be expected to improve as well”.
“Coach education will continue to be a priority here at Wave. I don’t feel this is being taken seriously enough by clubs in So Cal, and I am 100% committed to giving my coaches the tools they will need to succeed and drive the club forwards”.
